Outlaw, Eddie MacDonald Claims Spring Green

Heavy lap traffic made things interesting in the final 15 laps of the Egglefield Ford Spring Green 116 presented by Interstate Batteries. Barre, Vermont driver Nick Sweet was showing the way at lap 100 when he ran into heavy lap traffic. Meanwhile, Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Massachusetts was reeling in Sweet after MacDonald worked his way underneath St-Denis, Quebec’s Patrick Laperele. MacDonald’s car came to life on the top of the racetrack and worked the outside groove. Sweet and MacDonald were three wide down the front stretch on lap 106, battling for the lead with a lap car to the inside. MacDonald was able to use the progressive banking to his advantage through turns 1 and 2 and drive to the lead for good. The only scary moment for MacDonald was with 2 laps to go when a lap car pushed up in turn 2 and took away much of the racing room. MacDonald went on to win by 6 car lengths. Positions 2 through 5 went to Sweet, Laperle, Brandon Atkins and Scott Payea.
The Ernie’s Discount Sportsman Modified feature went green to checkered for all 30 laps. St-Remie, Quebec native, Roger LaBreche led all 30 laps en route to his first checkered flag. Plattsburgh’s Danny Sullivan crossed the line in second, with Plattsburgh driver, Bucko Branham finishing in third. Codie Aubin and Nick Heywood completed the top 5.
Morrisonville’s Tylor Terry was dialed in tonight in the Jeffords Steel Renegade’s, as he dove to the inside of Shawn Duquette in turn 3 with 3 laps to go to take the lead. Terry drove home to his first win of 2016. Duquette, Brent Jarvis, Richie Turner and Josh Terry completed the top 5.
Josh Laporte of Peru claimed the victory in the Busch Beer Mini Mod class. Dale O’Neil, Ed Bresette, Tim LaFountain and Robert Foley completed the top 5.
