Airborne Park Speedway
Castell Scores First Career Airborne Victory
PLATTSBURGH – Cory Castell took advantage of a prime starting spot to collect his first career J&S Steel Sportsman win at Airborne Speedway on Saturday night.
Castell led all 30 laps in the main event and held off late race challenges on restarts with less than five laps to go.
Lonnie Rivers ran strong inside the top three all night, finishing in the second spot. Nick Heywood made a late race pass to secure a podium finish. David Boisclair and Ricky Thompson completed the top five.
Jason McClatchie was solid in the Hartson Total Opening Renegade feature event that ran green to checkered. Nathaniel Guay led the first third of the race before McClatchie made a move to the inside entering turn one. Tylor Terry and Zach Daniels completed the podium, while Guay and Shawn Duquette finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
In his first appearance of the season, Michael Whalen grabbed the checkered flag in the Taylor Rental 4-cylinder division. Whalen held off Nate Smart and Josh LaPorte, who finished second and third.
Blayden Arquette collected his third win of the season in the Chris Frennier Motorsports Limited Sportsman division. Dale Gonyo and Pete Blaney completed the top three.
