All Eyes On Airborne: STSS Makes Inaugural Plattsburgh Stop Thursday, May 30
PLATTSBURGH, NY – All eyes on Airborne.
Plattsburgh, N.Y.’s pristine Airborne Park Speedway – managed in 2024 by Mike and Alayne Bruno – hosts the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco for the first time ever on Thursday, May 30.
The Adirondack Invasion pays homage to the 70th season of racing at Airborne with a 70-lap feature paying $7,070 top prize, $1,000 for 10th and $500 to take the green flag. The event serves as Round No. 2 of the River Valley Builders North Region for 2024.
The rejuvenated Airborne facility becomes the 34th different facility to host a Short Track Super Series-sanctioned Modified event.
The River Valley Builders North Region opener at Accord Speedway on May 14 drew a 56-car field of Modifieds with Stewart Friesen of Sprakers, N.Y., taking the victory over Rich Ricci Jr., Mat Williamson, Alex Yankowski and Matt Sheppard.
Friesen holds the early season North Region point lead as the circuit heads to the Adirondacks.
Joining the STSS Modifieds – utilizing Airborne Park Speedway rules and procedures – are the Sportsman, Renegades and Mini-Stocks.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m., grandstand gates unlock at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:20 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $30. Kids 12 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $45.
