Airborne Park Speedway Holds 2025 “Night of Champions” Banquet

The 2025 “Night of Champions Banquet” celebrating the 2025 season at Airborne Park Speedway was held on Sunday, November 23rd at the Rainbow Room in Altona, NY. Champions were crowned in all divisions, and over $25,000 in point money and awards were distributed to all the drivers.

Felix “Hollywood” Roy was crowned the Hartson Total Opening 358 Modified champion collecting $4,000 plus awards. The Napierville, Quebec campaigner collected two wins on the season, with 11 top fives and 12 top tens in edging out Mike Mahaney for the title on the final night of the season. Roy and Mahaney were locked in a fierce battle all season long, with Roy finishing three points ahead of “Smooth Shoe.”

Terry crossed the finish line first seven times during the season, accumulating the most wins for of any division. Terry added 15 top-fives and 17 top-tens to his ledger. He defeated the defending champion, Shawn Duquette, by 61 points.

Curt “Metal Man” Giventer received the “Dedication Award.” “Metal Man” is one of the first people many fans engage with when they enter the facility, as he is the driver of the trolley, offering rides to the admission and pit gates. Giventer was also a former race car driver himself.

The final, and highest honor award of the night, was the Leon Gonyo award. This year, the prestigious award went to Jean Claude-Fortin. Fortin has been a familiar figure at Airborne Park since 1961. Fortin is the grandfather of Felix and Jeremy Roy.
